The Mile Run is probably our most difficult test for students to pass.  Students are timed as they run one mile (2 1/2 laps around our field).  Each student has a standard to meet based on their age and gender.  Click here to view your standard. 

 

To improve your cardio endurance it is important to exercise within your Target Heart Rate zone.  Click the Target Heart Rate Calculator link to the left to calculate and learn about your Target Heart Rate Zone.  See the videos below for some tips on how to improve this score.

 

Modified exercises to increase cardiovascular endurance.

Jump Rope

  • An excellent way to improve cardio fitness.
  • Set a goal to see how long you can maintain jumping (time/jumps).

 

Treadmill

  • If you have access, a treadmill is a great way to improve cardio fitness.
  • It is important to make sure you spend at least 10 minutes for cardio workouts.
  • A treadmill can help reduce stress on the knees while running.

Stair Climbing

  • If you have access to outdoor stairs, this can be a fun way to get cardio endurance.
  • You can do this in a variety of ways; running, jumping, hopping, skipping, etc.
